Dense fog has plagued the metro area the past few days and there is a similar forecast for Thursday.

We will keep up a blog of developments as we get them. If you have a development, you can email them to webteam@wwltv.com.

8:00 a.m. - Currently there are no road closures.

7:35 a.m. - Visibility is improving in New Orleans East as the sun rises.

7:21 a.m. - Time-lapse video of the patchy fog and smoke on I10 Eastbound in New Orleans East Thursday morning.

7:00 a.m. – weather conditions are improving as the sun rises. Traffic congestion on I-10 and on the Causeway Bridge are normal.

6:55 a.m. - Conditions still look good on all the main thoroughfares into and out of New Orleans. There is some fog in New Orleans East, but visibility appears to be at least a half mile.

6:20 a.m. - UPDATE FROM NOPD:  As of this time, there are currently no traffic closures in Orleans Parish in regard to low visibility conditions. This includes the interstates and heavily trafficked highways.

NOPD will continue to monitor these areas throughout the morning and will provide updates if conditions worsen.

6:12 a.m. – Causeway bridge tolls are still in place, and traffic is still moving freely.

6:05 a.m.

6:00 a.m. - I-55 and Causeway are fog-free as of 6 a.m. In New Orleans East, there is some smoke/and or fog between the I-510 exit and Michoud exit. The fog isn't yet dense and there have been no closures at this time.

5:47 a.m. – Patches of fog beginning to set in some areas but still better conditions than yesterday.

5:32 a.m. - WWL-TV crew ran into a patch of thick fog on Hwy. 11. Views from the car camera show visibility is still pretty good, but suggest that could change.

5:30 a.m. - Still no report of problems or traffic diversions due to fog. Traffic Reporter Colleen Seeley and Meteorologist Payton Malone say that could change though and drivers should check prior to leaving home.

5:15 a.m. – NOPD and DOTD are staged in the Irish Bayou area ready to respond if conditions in the area worsen.

5:10 a.m. - WWL-TV has crews at the Twin Spans and Causeway for live updates all morning long.

5:05 a.m. - Payton Malone has the latest weather forecast, calling for rain possible for the next 7 days, which could help with potential fog. See the forecast here.

5:00 a.m. - As of 5 a.m., there have not yet been any reported issues with fogs or delays.

4:50 a.m. - Several schools in New Orleans are having delayed bus pickup due to the fog. Here is the list we have so far.

4:48 a.m. - WWL-TV's live crew is headed out to the Michoud area and has encountered no visibility problems so far. Meteorologist Payton Malone says the potential is still there, but that there are no issues reported at this time.

4:45 a.m. - No restrictions seen at this point. Causeway and I-55 are open. No problems detected at this point in New Orleans East.
