Local 911 outages | Here's what to do

Sheriff's Office says cellular network outages to blame

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Local authorities are reporting that an ongoing cellular network outage may prevent some residents from successfully reaching 911 emergency services.

Here is how you can make 911 emergency calls:

Jefferson Parish

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting that an ongoing cellular network outage may prevent some residents from successfully reaching 911 emergency services.

Officials are urging individuals that are unable to connect to 911 to instead dial 504-227-1400 to be directly connected to the JPSO dispatch center.

“This issue is not within our system,” said a JPSO spokesperson. “Our 911 call takers and dispatchers are fully operational and ready to dispatch deputies wherever they are needed.”

The Sheriff's Office said it is actively collaborating with cellular service providers to address the outages. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to use the alternative number to ensure they receive emergency assistance.

The Kenner Police Department is also experiencing intermittent issues with its administrative and 911 emergency phone lines.
