NOPD: 2 New Orleans shootings just 20 minutes apart

These latest shootings become part of a string of shootings and homicides that happened over the Holidays.

NEW ORLEANS — Two people were shot early Wednesday morning continuing a surge in gun violence in New Orleans.

The NOPD reports they are investigating a shooting that happened in the area of South Dorgenois St. and General Taylor Street.

Initial police reports show a man suffered at least one gunshot wound to his body.

The victim was transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment, but his condition is unknown at this time. Police say dispatch got the 911 call at 1:29 a.m.

Then, 20 minutes later another 911 call about a shooting came in to the NOPD.

That shooting happened in the 700 block of Howard Ave. Police say another man also suffered at least one gunshot wound to his body.

That victim was also transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

These latest shootings become part of a string of shootings and homicides that happened over the Holidays where five people were killed in shootings spanning across Jefferson and Orleans parishes.
