Hurricane Francine Aftermath: Parish-by-Parish damage

While Hurricane Francine did considerable damage in some areas, other parishes saw minimal damage.

NEW ORLEANS โ€” Hurricane Francine was a Category 2 storm when it made landfall in Louisiana Wednesday afternoon.

Many parishes saw downed utility poles, power outages, and localized street flooding as Francine brought gusty winds and persistent rain to much of the state.

Here is a breakdown of the current conditions parish-by-parish.

Orleans Parish

Power outages:

50,108 Entergy customers in New Orleans are without power as of 7:38 a.m.

Due to an issue with AT&T, customers with an AT&T-provided home phone landline or (Voip) are not able to connect when calling 911. This is isolated to AT&T Voip customers only and is not impacting other providers or cell phone customers.

There is an alternate number for those customers to call instead of 911. That number is 504-671-3600.

Airport:

There are 81 flights canceled at New Orleans International Airport.

Sewerage and Water Board: There are no boil water advisories issued by the Sewerage and Water Board. However, many parts of Lakeview say street flooding as the pump stations say 2-and-a-half inches of water according to NOSWB Director Ghassan Korban.

He says that currently there is no standing water but at the peak, the city saw up to 7 inches of water in some neighborhoods.

  • S&WB power equipment failure led to flooding in N.O., one pumping station is not operational at this time.
  • Standing water remains in some neighborhoods
  • Residents asked to conserve water for 1-2 days
  • Don't use appliances like washers or dishwashers

Hurricane Francine knocked down trees across the metro New Orleans area causing road hazards for many drivers and pulling down powerlines.
