City to reactivate school speed zone cameras

The cameras will be reactivated on Friday, Aug. 23, the city said in a release.

NEW ORLEANS — All school-zone traffic cameras will be back this week after nearly a month of being deactivated, according to the City of New Orleans on Wednesday.

The cameras will be reactivated on Friday, Aug. 23, the city said in a release. This comes as the city works to finalize negotiations on how it operates the school zone camera under the new law – Senate House Bill 302.

School zone speed camera operation hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, enforcing 20 mph speed limits during the academic year.

High schools in Orleans Parish have over 70 traffic cameras for school zone enforcement.
