What they’re saying nationally about the Saints firing Dennis Allen

Here's what media from around the nation are saying.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints have made a significant change in leadership, parting ways with head coach Dennis Allen after a lackluster 2-7 start to the 2024 NFL season.

The decision was made following the team’s 23-22 defeat to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, marking their seventh loss in a row.

The Saints organization made the announcement official with a statement released soon after the news broke.

"Dennis has been part of our organization for many years. He is highly regarded within the NFL. He has been extremely loyal and professional and most importantly an excellent football coach for us," Saints Owner Gayle Benson said. "All of this makes today very tough for me and our organization. However, this decision is something that I felt we needed to make at this time. I wish nothing but the best in the future for Dennis and his family. He will always be considered in the highest regard by me and everyone within our organization."
