Saints sign former Detroit DB, 16 undrafted free agents – including Tulane center

The Saints' signings come shortly after taking seven players in the 2024 NFL Draft over the weekend.

METAIRIE, La. โ€” The New Orleans Saints confirmed the signing of former Detroit Lions defensive back Will Harris on Wednesday afternoon.

The announcement comes after NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo first posted on social media earlier in the day that Harris had agreed to terms with the team.

The 2019 third-round pick out of Boston College signed a one-year deal with the Saints after five seasons with the Lions.

The 6-1, 207-pound Harris started two of the 17 games played in 2023. According to NFL.com, Harris recorded 12 tackles (10 solo), two passes defended and an interception โ€“ his second of two picks during his career in Detroit. ESPN and Pro Football Reference attribute 18 tackles (12 solo) to the 28-year-old last season.

Harris played four seasons (2015-18) for the Eagles, where he had 41 starts in 50 games with 225 total tackles, 12 pass defenses, 7.5 stops for loss, six fumble recoveries, five interceptions and one sack.

On Tuesday, the Saints announced the signings of a pair of offensive linemen, including former Raiders tackle Justin Herron and Giants guard/center Shane Lemieux.

New Orleans makes the third stop for the 6.-foot-5, 290-pound Herron, who played two seasons in New England before spending last year in Las Vegas.

Herron, now 28, was taken in the sixth round out of Wake Forest in 2020. He was a Third-Team All-ACC selection in 2019.

Lemieux, 26, was taken in the fifth round out of Oregon during the same draft as Herron.

The 6-4, 310-pounder spent three seasons in New York after a college career decorated with a First-Team All-American and two Second-Team All-Pac-12 awards.

The additions come shortly after the Saints signed 16 undrafted free agents after taking seven players in the 2024 NFL Draft over the weekend.

One of the 16 signed includes former Tulane Green Wave center Sincere Haynesworth, a 2023 American Athletic Conference Center and Offensive Lineman of the Year by the College Football Network, as well as a Fourth-Team All-American and two-time Outland Trophy finalist.

The 6-1, 310-pound Texas native anchored the Green Wave offensive line and allowed just seven QB hurries, no QB hits, and three sacks while playing center as a fifth-year center.

Haynesworth's quarterback at Tulane was eventual 2024 seventh-round draft pick (No. 245) Michael Pratt (Green Bay Packers).
