Kool-Aid McKinstry hopes to get back on the field following injury

He had surgery to repair the injury and is close to returning. He could make a comeback next week at the veteran minicamp.

NEW ORLEANS — Saints rookie Kool-Aid McKinstry said his main focus is getting back on the field, after an injury held him back from practice this summer, according to Nola.com.

“I’m very itchy to get out there, just to get out there with the guys and build that bond and that chemistry,” McKinstry told our partners.

McKinstry said he found out he had a Jones fracture, " which is a break of the fifth metatarsal, on the pinky toe side of the foot", during NFL combine medical evaluations.

He had surgery to repair the injury and is close to returning. He could make a comeback next week at the veteran minicamp, our partners reported.

The Saints recently signed McKinstry to a 4-year contract.

The former Alabama cornerback was selected by the Saints in the second round – 41st overall – of the 2024 NFL Draft.
