NEW ORLEANS — Injuries continue to plague the New Orleans Pelicans with forward Naji Marshall the latest to miss time at the start of the 2023 regular season when it starts on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Marshall hyperextended his right knee during the first half of the Pels' 110-105 loss to the Hawks in Atlanta on Saturday – the team's third straight loss with one game remaining in their 4-game preseason schedule.

The 25-year-old out of Xavier University of Ohio was diagnosed with a bone bruise following an MRI on Sunday morning. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Marshall averaged 9.1 points and 3.6 rebounds last season while appearing in 77 games (21 starts) for New Orleans.

Also expected to miss the start of the season, Trey Murphy III due to a knee surgery and Jose Alvarado, who is recovering from a right ankle sprain. Both sustained their injuries during offseason workouts.

Larry Nance Jr. is recovering from a left ankle injury, but is expected to  make a full recovery before the start of the regular season.

The Pels (0-3) wrap preseason against the Magic (2-0) in Orlando on Tuesday.
