NEW YORK — The New Orleans Pelicans (27-21) were one of two teams the National Basketball Association levied fines upon on Thursday for violating league injury reporting rules.

The Pels were fined $25,000 for failing to include forward Trey Murphy III on the team's injury report before the team's 141-117 lopsided loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last Saturday.

Murphy missed the start of the season due to an offseason knee injury that required surgery. The 23-year-old third-year pro also missed games at early last month due to tendonitis in the same left knee.

In 23 played this season, Murphy is averaging 13 points per game with a shooting percentage of 42.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers (29-17) received a $75K fine for not including reigning MVP Joel Embiid for the same infraction. According to NBA officials, the fine takes into account the Sixers' prior history for violating injury reporting rules.

The league said a review concluded that there was no violation of the Player Participation Policy because Embiid's absence was due to a confirmed knee injury.
