Popeyes restaurant in Destrehan caught fire, blaze spread near businesses sheriff says

DESTREHAN, La. — A Popeyes restaurant in Destrehan was engulfed in flames on Friday, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the fire also "spread to other businesses in the shopping area. All the businesses have been evacuated. Please avoid the area if you can," a release said.

The restaurant went ablaze around 3 p.m. at 13510 Longview Drive, Nola.com reported.

According to our partners, firefighters with the Eastern St. Charles Fire Department were on the scene battling the flames.
