HOUMA, La. — Two men face life in prison after they were arrested Sunday, about 24 hours after the shooting death of a man on Roselawn Avenue, Houma police officials said.
Xavier Hite and Antyree Robinson, both 21, were arrested hours apart Sunday afternoon in connection to the killing of Aaron Stearns, 28, who was shot in the 400 block of Roselawn Avenue Saturday afternoon.
According to Houma Police Department officials, responding officers found Stearns suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 2 p.m. He was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries shortly after.
Police opened a homicide investigation, offering a cash reward for information on that led to an arrest in the killing. Around 11 p.m. Saturday, received such a tip, officials said.
That information led HPD officers and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's deputies to the 3600 block of Friendswood Drive, where they found Hite in an apartment.
After speaking with police, Hite surrendered without incident and was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a count of second-degree murder.
Late Sunday afternoon, Robinson, who had also been wanted on second-degree murder, turned himself into the Houma police. He was also booked into the parish jail.
Through the investigation, police believe there was a fight that led to Stearn's death. The nature of that altercation, however, is still under investigation, officials said.
Police said that anyone with information on crimes in Houma should call 985-873-6371.
