Man shot to death in Houma, police say

Investigators are asking for the public's help to identify the shooter

HOUMA, La. — Police are investigating a broad daylight shooting that took the life of a 28-year-old man in Houma Saturday, officials said. 

According to initial reports from the Houma Police Department, officers were called to the 400 block of Roselawn Avenue around 2:20 p.m. after residents reported someone had been shot in the area. 

When they arrived, responding officers found 28-year-old Aaron Stearns suffering from multiple gunshot wounds across his body. He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance for treatment, but was pronounced dead a short time after, police officials said.

Police said the investigation into the killing is underway, and few details, including a motive for the shooting, remained unknown as of Saturday evening. 

Sgt. Travis Theriot with the Houma Police Department said anyone with information on the incident should call the officers at 985-873-6371

Theriot said tips can also be submitted using the P3 Tips app on mobile devices, and those with information could be eligible $1,000 cash reward if it leads to an arrest.
