KENNER, La. — The City of Kenner will close all administrative offices until Monday, May 20 due to a power outage caused by Thursday night's severe weather and storms. Parish officials said they are also canceling Music in the Park, which was set for Friday evening.
“At this time, operations are halted. These office buildings do not have an estimated restoration time from Entergy,” said Mayor Glaser on the decision to close.
Music in the Park concert was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Heritage Park, but is canceled due to no electricity at the site and forecasts predict another round of severe weather, officials said.
Severe weather Thursday night knocked out power to nearly 34,000 customers in Jefferson Parish at one point.
Crews are working to also clear the streets and roadways of debris and clean out catch basins.
City of Kenner administrative offices will resume normal hours of operation Monday, May 20, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.
