Kenner names stadium after New Orleans sportscaster

The Kenner City Council is set to vote on the naming of this field at the upcoming council meeting scheduled for Sept. 5.

KENNER, La. — The City of Kenner announced on Friday that the stadium at Muss Bertolino Playground will be named after longtime New Orleans sportscaster Ed Daniels, who died last week following complications from a massive heart attack he suffered in July.\

Daniels served as both WGNO sports director and host of Friday Night Football for more than three decades.

The Kenner City Council is set to vote on the naming of this field at the upcoming council meeting scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5.

“The newly named “Ed Daniels Field” recognizes Mr. Daniels’ decades-long dedication to covering and promoting high school sports. His passion for athletics, and his unwavering commitment to shining light on the talent and accomplishments of countless young athletes was unmatched by any other,” said Kenner Mayor Mike Glaser. “In naming the field after him, the City of Kenner acknowledges his profound impact on our local sports culture and his enduring legacy.”
