Jefferson Parish residents are now eligible for FEMA Disaster Recovery Assistance

Homeowners and renters in all of Jefferson Parish are now eligible for FEMA assistance to help them recover from Hurricane Francine.

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Homeowners and renters in all of Jefferson Parish are now eligible for FEMA assistance to help with Hurricane Francine recovery.

Before this, Kenner and Jefferson Parish were left off the initial list of parishes qualifying for FEMA assistance despite nearly 400 damaged homes in Kenner alone.

Assistance for eligible residents can now get help with serious needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic home repair costs, personal property loss, or other disaster-caused needs.

Also, low-interest disaster loans from the U. S. Small Business Administration are available for businesses of all sizes including landlords, private nonprofits, homeowners, and renters.

Jefferson Parish now joins the list of eligible parishes, which also includes Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. James, and St. John Parish in the New Orleans area along with Ascension, Assumption, and St. Mary Parishes.

Jefferson Parish joins Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes, which were previously approved for Individual Assistance.
