FEMA opens Disaster Recovery Center in the bayou parishes, here is where to go for federal disaster assistance

The center is open to residents in Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes.
Officials encourage residents to apply online or call FEMA to determine eligibility.

ST. MARY PARISH, La. — FEMA and the State of Louisiana have opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Morgan City to provide one-on-one help to Louisiana residents in certain parishes affected by Hurricane Francine.

The center, located in the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium 728 Myrtle Street in Morgan City will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

It is open to residents in Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes.

No appointment is needed to visit the center.

Residents in those parishes impacted by Hurricane Francine can visit the center to meet with representatives of FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration, along with other community partners who can help with the FEMA Disaster Recovery application process.

You do not have to visit the center to apply for FEMA disaster assistance. The quickest way to apply is by going online at disasterassistance.gov/.

Additional options when applying include:

▪ Call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone, or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
