FEMA disaster assistance applications open for Louisiana residents

HAHNVILLE, La. — FEMA disaster assistance applications are open to Louisiana residents impacted by Hurricane Francine. Officials encourage residents to apply online or call FEMA to determine eligibility.

"FEMA may be able to help with severe needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic home repair costs, personal property loss or other disaster-caused needs," a release said.

Homeowners and renters in Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne parishes may be eligible for financial assistance.

Homeowners and renters can apply several ways:

  • A current phone number where you can be contacted
  • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are now staying
  • Your Social Security number
  • A general list of damage and losses
  • Banking information if you choose direct deposit
  • If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name
