Crash causes fuel spill at Central City intersection, NOFD says

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Fire Department cleared a 75-gallon fuel spill after a pickup truck allegedly struck the diesel tank of an 18-wheeler on  Tuesday.

According to the NOFD, the incident occurred at 4 p.m at the corner of South Claiborne Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Authorities quickly shut down the intersection and diverted traffic until the hazardous materials could be cleaned up by city workers.

No injuries have been reported.

The incident is currently being investigated by the New Orleans Police Department.
