NEW ORLEANS — Despite the threat of street flooding and heavy rain moving into the area, the New Orleans Fire Department was on the scene battling a 3-alarm fire in the French Quarter.
The fire broke out at a building at the intersection of Bourbon and Orleans Street early Tuesday morning.
An NOFD spokesperson Greg Davis told WWL Louisiana that the department received the call about the fire at about 2:44 a.m. They found the fire in between the second and third floors of the building which housed the Quarterhouse bar and restaurant that was not open at the time of the fire.
The bar owner says they had closed early yesterday evening because of the threat of flooding rain. She says she is in shock but plans to rebuild and reopen.
An NOFD firefighter Captain injured his hand but was treated on the scene.
This is a developing story stay with WWL Louisiana for the latest information.
