ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — A man was arrested following an accidental shooting that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old girl in the Goodbee area in St. Tammany Parish, according to Nola.com
Wesner Fonrose, 59, was booked with negligent homicide authorities said. Fonrose was a relative of the teen and detectives he was "handling a firearm in another room of the house when the gun accidentally fired."
The bullet went through the wall and struck the girl, the sheriff's office said. Emergency personnel airlifted the teen to an area hospital for treatment but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries the next day.
According to our partners, the sheriff's office did not say Fonrose's relation to the victim.
Fonrose was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail. His bond was set at $20,000.
