Second arrest made in Plum Orchard homicide investigation, NOPD says

According to police, Diamond Ebbs, 18, is one of two suspects arrested for fatally gunning down a 36-year-old man last month.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department arrested 18-year-old Diamond Ebbs in connection with a homicide investigation stemming from the fatal shooting of a man in the 4700 block of Bonita Drive on Oct. 21.

According to police, Ebbs is the second suspect arrested after taking 19-year-old Mekhai Pierce into custody on Oct. 31.

Both Ebbs and Pierce are facing second-degree murder charges in the death of 36-year-old Manuel Jones, who was gunned down in the Plum Orchard neighborhood.

Ebbs was arrested in St. Tammany Parish and was scheduled to be extradited to New Orleans. Meanwhile, Pierce is being held in the Orleans Juvenile Center.
