KENNER, La. — The Kenner Police Department has made an arrest in the homicide investigation of 18-year-old Melvin McClinton.
Detectives say McClinton was shot on Monday. The police department began investigating after McClinton was taken to the hospital soon after the shooting. he later died from his injuries.
He was driven there by two other people who police say were not cooperative with the investigation.
Detectives say after a search of a home in the 1600 block of Newport Place on Tuesday, they developed Jarrone Crimmins, 19, as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for the charge of First-Degree Murder.
Shortly after executing the search warrant on Newport Place, Crimmins surrendered himself to the Kenner Police.
Crimmins was booked with First Degree Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault.
Detectives say the investigation is still ongoing and they anticipate other arrests.
