KENNER, La. — The Kenner Police Department responded to Ochsner's Kenner campus after a vehicle carrying three people arrived with one suffering from a gunshot wound at 12:50 p.m.
Police said the victim, identified as 18-year-old local Melvin McClinton, died despite receiving emergency medical treatment.
The other two occupants in the vehicle were questioned during the investigation but were uncooperative, according to the Kenner PD.
Police located the scene of the incident in the 1600 block of 42nd Street and through initial investigation believe McClinton was targeted and not a victim of a random shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kenner Police at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
