NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting downtown that left one woman dead.
Police say the shooting happened in the 100 block of Exchange Place around 3:30 p.m. According to the NOPD, a deputy sheriff heard two shots fired in the area, and when police arrived they found the woman lying in the street. She was taken to the hospital by EMS, where she later died. The coroner later identified the victim as Myeisha Marshall, 33.
This is the fifth shooting reported since Saturday night. Six people have been injured and two were killed, according to NOPD.
