NOPD: Man arrested in connection with Central City homicide

The 24-year-old suspect is facing one count of second-degree murder.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department arrested 24-year-old Jose Gabriel Gamboa-Escobar on Wednesday in connection with a homicide on Nov. 5.

The shooting occurred in the 2600 block of First Street and left 35-year-old Melvin Alberto Rodriguez Manueles fatally wounded.

According to the NOPD, Gamboa-Escobar was positively identified as the perpetrator in this incident.

After an arrest warrant was obtained, Gamboa-Escobar was arrested by the U.S. Marshals New Orleans Task Force and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

He is facing one count of second-degree murder.
