NEW ORLEANS — Investigations conducted by the New Orleans Police Department have led to arrests in two unrelated homicides on Wednesday.
According to the NOPD, police arrested 31-year-old Levi Johnigan in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in the 4300 block of Stemway Drive on June 26, as well as the arrest of 24-year-old Jerrell J. Andrews for a deadly shooting on Aug. 14.
Investigators say they positively identified Johnson as the shooter and with the help of the NOPD Violent Offender Squad and U.S. Marshals were able to take the suspect into custody and book him on one count of second-degree murder.
The NOPD thanked Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans and ProjectNOLA for their assistance in this investigation.
Regarding Andrews, an arrest warrant was issued for him for the incident that occurred at the intersection of Poland and North Johnson streets last week and ultimately claimed the life of 27-year-old Evans Page.
Andrews is currently incarcerated in Houston and will be extradited to Orleans Parish to face a charge of second-degree murder along with additional domestic-related charges.
Anyone with additional regarding either of these incidents is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300.
