HOUMA, La. — Houma Police want the community's help finding a man accused of ramming his girlfriend's car off the road, while she had her three young children with her.
Police say during the chase he attempted to run her off the road multiple times before both vehicles crashed into a Houma home.
Houma Police say in the driver's seat of the SUV was 31-year-old Treyon Williams, and in the sedan was his girlfriend.
Houma Police Chief Travis Theriot told WWL Louisiana, “He actually struck the rear corner of the vehicle with the children in the car, with no concern for anyone’s safety, and caused the vehicle to slide into a local residence.”
Chief Theriot said there was a domestic dispute and that the victim fled in her car. Theriot said Williams got in another vehicle and chased her, attempting multiple times to run her car off of the road. At one point he said, he caused her to crash into an electric pole.
A short distance away, Lance Bergeron was enjoying New Year's Day watching the LSU game with his family. But, a chase was heading his way. Bergeron told WWL Louisiana, “It sounded like a train wreck.”
“When he hit the house, the house shook.”
Bergeron's home surveillance caught the crash on camera, “He jumped the curb, never hit the brakes one time. He had to be doing 40-50 miles an hour... she ran into my truck... he continued into my house.”
He said he initially thought it was a hit and run when both took off. He jumped in his truck to find them and said that after seeing the victim, he knew there was more at play.
Bergeron said, “I seen her coming down the street, so I turned and found her. I mean, the look on her face, she was just devastated. She was scared. She didn’t know what to do. She was crying, the kids were crying."
In the video, you see the suspect and the victim driving down a stretch of road before crashing into Lance’s house. In the victim's car were her three-month-old, three-year-old, and four-year-old.
Bergeron said, “If my stepson would’ve been here, his head would’ve been through the opposite wall, that’s how far it pushed the bed.”
The damage inside and outside of Lance’s house was extensive. Bergeron said the impact of the crash shifted one of the inside walls three inches, smashed a window and broke the exterior brickwork, broke a TV and the front door.
Chief Theriot said, "There’s absolutely no regard for public safety. Whenever you’re talking about a 4,000-pound vehicle striking something, it’s out of control, easily someone could have been killed.”
Williams is wanted for nine counts of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, hit and run, reckless operation of a vehicle, and for being in possession of marijuana.
Police say they're unsure if he has any weapons, but the department urges anyone with any information to contact Houma Police.
