HOUMA, La. — Special Victim’s Unit Detectives with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Houma man for allegedly raping a 10-year-old juvenile.
Detectives say they were called to a local school where they learned of the alleged sexual abuse from the young victim.
They say that based on the evidence they found and an interview with the victim, Lawrence J. Voisin, 53, of Houma was arrested on two counts of First-Degree Rape.
SVU Detectives later arrested Voisin at his home.
“Our Detectives are working closely with the victim and family to bring a resolution to this unfortunate investigation,” Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet said.
“As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victim and those affected by this investigation. Our investigators will do what is needed to make sure this dangerous perpetrator is brought to justice.”
