NOPD arrests one after man shot and killed in front Chef Discount Market, police say

NOPD detectives identified Breaux as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder on Aug. 12, police said.

NEW ORLEANS — A man was arrested following the shooting death of Dessean Leggett, 23, who died in front of the Chef Discount Market last weekend, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Ted “Tezo” Breaux of Luling, La., was arrested on Friday in connection to Leggett's murder.

Police said the shooting happened in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway on Saturday, Aug. 11. 

Leggett was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in front of the store. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

NOPD detectives identified Breaux as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder on Aug. 12, the release said.

Breaux was found at a home in the Seventh District.

He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
