BATON ROUGE, La. — We’re learning more about the 69-year-old therapist from Baton Rouge found dead in Tangipahoa Parish.
On Sunday, William Nicholas Abraham’s body was found wrapped in a tarp and dumped along U.S. Highway 51.
Court records show Abraham was accused of molesting a boy in 2015, but was never charged with a crime.
WWL Louisiana pressed Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore, asking what came of the 2015 arrest.
Moore declined an interview, but Assistant District Attorney Tracey Barbera said quote, “After considering all available evidence, the best interest of the child, and the lack of any inculpatory statements by the arrestee, we declined to institute formal charges.”
Attorney Craig Mordock isn’t involved in the case, but says the DA’s decision not to try it likely came down to a lack of evidence.
“The district attorney needs to determine if they can prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt to get a conviction,” Attorney Craig Mordock said. “They didn’t believe they would get a conviction presenting the entire case to the jury.”
On Monday, authorities released images of an individual last seen driving Abraham's vehicle.
According to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office detectives, Abraham's vehicle was found in Baton Rouge that afternoon. The driver, who is the person of interest shown in the surveillance camera screenshots below, sped away from a traffic stop and ultimately fled after crashing the car.
