Saints WR Michael Thomas leaves the field after their win against the Carolina Panthers on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, in Charlotte, N.C.

KENNER, La. — A Saints player was allegedly involved in an incident that led to Kenner Police being called on Friday night.

Wide receiver, Michael Thomas, was allegedly seen being taken away in the back of a squad car, according to our media partners at The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate.

It would be the second time a Saints player had an encounter with law enforcement this season, as fellow receiver Chris Olave was arrested two weeks ago for speeding in Kenner.

"We are aware of the incident and we are gathering information," a Saints spokesperson told WWL-TV shortly after 10 p.m. The team did not provide details in the statement.

The injury-plagued Thomas, who caught an NFL-record 149 receptions in 2019 for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns – his last full season completed, has 38 catches for 439 yards and one TD in nine games this season. But the 30-year-old California native failed to record a reception from just one target in the Saints' 24-17 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Thomas was arrested Friday night in Jefferson Parish after Kenner Police said Thomas threw a brick and shoved a man, according to a department statement Saturday.

He was charged with two misdemeanors, simple battery and criminal mischief, after an investigation. The NFL player was released from lockup at 10 p.m Friday night.
