'I play for the Saints' | Kenner PD releases bodycam video of Chris Olave's arrest

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested by Kenner Police after reportedly driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

KENNER, La. — New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested by Kenner Police after reportedly driving in excess of 35 miles per hour over the speed limit on Monday night.

New bodycam footage released by Kenner Police on Tuesday show Olave being handcuffed in front of his home after officers allowed him drive home, which was a couple of blocks from the incident.

"So, you all are arresting me?," Olave asked officers. "I play for the Saints."

Kenner PD Captain Michael Cunningham said Olave broke a city ordinance when he allegedly drove his Dodge Charger 70 mph in a 35-mph zone.  The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Joe Yenni Boulevard. Police say Olave was clocked at that speed in a distance of just two blocks.

“Olave was placed under arrest for violation of City of Kenner Ordinance 7-64, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Olave was released from the City of Kenner Jail at 11:30 p.m., said Kenner Police spokesperson Captain Michael Cunningham.

Olave's brother, Josh Olave, took to social media following his brother's arrest. He said in a tweet, "Bro was on the way back to the crib from CVS... aint nun serious." However, some fans disagreed with the post.

In a statement to WWL-TV on Tuesday, a New Orleans Saints representative said the team was, "aware of the charge against Chris Olave."

"At this time we will defer to (Olave's) representative if they have further comment on that matter," Douglas Miller, the Saints Executive Director of Football Communications, said.

This is the second offense for Olave, who was cited for speeding in Kenner back in August.

The 23-year-old, second-year pro taken 11th overall out of Ohio State in the 2022 NFL Draft is currently leading the team with 39 receptions and 471 receiving yards through seven games.
