Man admits to fatal hit-and-run that killed bicyclist in St. Claude area, NOPD says

The incident occurred at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Clouet Street.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department announced the arrest of 21-year-old Christian Rand after he allegedly admitted to being the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal-hit and-run crash on Sunday.

The incident occurred at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Clouet Street and claimed the life of a bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rand was questioned after detectives located and impounded his SUV.

The suspect and his attorney arrived at the Special Operations Bureau and police say Rand admitted to being the driver of the impacting vehicle. 

He was immediately placed under arrest and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of hit-and-run driving with serious bodily injury or death.
