Ex-model, sex offender Dean Kelly will remain out on bond

Kelly is scheduled to be back in court on Monday, pending an address change.

NEW ORLEANS — More than a month after a New Orleans magistrate commissioner set bail at $1.1 million for former model and actor Dean Kelly, the state requested to revoke the convicted sex offender's bond, who is facing new charges for an incident in October, due to an address issue.

“It was just a misunderstanding, but we cleared it up.,” Kelly's attorney, Frank DeSalvo said.

WWL Louisiana's Whitney Miller reported that the address listed on his bond paperwork is that of the 52-year-old Kelly's mother, which is two blocks away from a school, breaking a condition of his bond.

Miller reported that Kelly's attorney claims the address in question is incorrect and was a mistake in the paperwork. The attorney said that corrections are underway with the court.

“Well that’s not where he lives. The clerk’s office had the wrong address, but every other agency has the right address,” DeSalvo said.

Another issue Miller reported is that the state officials want Kelly to surrender his passport, something his attorney said he no longer possesses since his last stint in prison.

“I can't prove a negative; he doesn’t have a passport,” DeSalvo said.

In 2013, Kelly pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery of a 14-year-old and took a plea deal in 2005 after being accused of raping two teen girls.

He is now facing four charges, including:

  • Attempted third-degree rape
  • Sexual battery
  • Failure to register as a sex offender
  • Failure to notify as a sex offender

Kelly is scheduled to be back in court on Monday, pending an address change.
