2 teens arrested for threatening to shoot up school and kill teacher in St. Tammany Parish

Each girl was issued a summons for 'terrorizing' and was released to a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

MANDEVILLE, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two teen girls on Tuesday morning for 'terrorizing' a school and teacher on social media.

According to the STPSO, deputies were contacted by the FBI National Threat Operations Section (NTOS) Exigent Threat Research and Analysis Crisis Team (EXTRACT) regarding a conversation on Snapchat between two 14-year-old girls.

The sheriff's office said that the two girls discussed shooting up the school to kill one of their teachers. One student discussed having a Glock and the other stated she had a pistol.

Upon arrest, the residence of both girls were searched, and no firearms were located.v

Each girl was issued a summons for LRS 14:40.1 Terrorizing and was released to a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

Earlier in the day, the STPSO assisted the Slidell Police Department in the arrest of another Northshore student for spreading a rumor of a school shooting at Slidell High.

“We will continue to take threats like this very seriously,” said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. “And we will continue to work with our schools and our law enforcement partners to investigate all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them. Parents, please talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making comments like this, even in a joking manner.”
