Council approves Krewe of Alla move to Wednesday night spot in place of Nyx

According to Krewe Captain Adam Strickland, rolling on Wednesday night would be easier on Krewe members and city workers, saying the late nights hinder membership.

NEW ORLEANS — During a meeting Thursday, the New Orleans City Council approved to move the Krewe of Alla to one of the most coveted nights on the Carnival parade schedule.

Alla will move to the Wednesday night spot in place of the Krewe of Nyx.

According to Krewe Captain Adam Strickland, rolling on Wednesday night would be easier on Krewe members and city workers, saying the late nights hinder membership.

“We’ve had some very late nights which means all the city personnel that make it happen, NOPD, NOFD, they don’t go home till we go home,” Krewe of Alla Captain Adam Strickland said.

For over a decade, the Krewe of Nyx rolled the Wednesday before Fat Tuesday, but the city council voted unanimously to revoke the Krewe’s parade permit earlier this year after they failed to meet minimum unit requirements last carnival season.
