Warm Sunday with stray showers, heating up this week

Cooler and less humid weather may come next weekend

NEW ORLEANS —

New Orleans Latest Weather Forecast

A more summery feel is definitely with us this weekend, and that feeling will intensify later this week when we expect our first 90-degree day. Sunday and Monday continue similar to what we've seen this weekend. Expect a warm and humid feel along with a mix of clouds and sun. A couple of isolated showers will be possible mainly in the afternoons as an unsettled pattern stays stationed just to our north. The heat index will be close to 90.

We'll warm up at the middle of the week as high pressure builds from the south. We should hit 90 degrees by Wednesday or Thursday. That's a little early considering on average we reach 90 degrees on May 18. With the humidity, it could feel like middle 90s in the afternoons.

A If you're not ready for nonstop summer heat just yet, you're in luck. A cool front is set to arrive on Saturday possibly with a few showers. Much less humid air and a big break in temperatures will feel like a treat for many of us.
