Early in his career, Willie Wilson volunteered in the WWL newsroom and, with the help of other photographers, learned how to shoot film using a Bell and Howell camera. Here he is filming former Congressman F. Edward Hebert. Willie was one of the pioneering Black photojournalists in the state of Louisiana. An award honoring top WWL employees is named for Mr. Wilson.
