NEW ORLEANS — The National Weather Service has issued a 'Street Flood Advisory' for parts of Assumption, Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes until 10 a.m. due to ongoing heavy rains Thursday morning.
Rainfall measurements of nearly six inches has fallen in Assumption, alone.
According to WWL Louisiana meteorologist Payton Malone, there is a developing flooding situation for the Thibodaux area moving into Morgan City. He said the heaviest of the rain has not reached Houma as of 8 a.m., but there is been a slow back-build throughout the area.
Motorists are urged to use caution while driving and to avoid areas with water on the roadway.
