Weather Impact Alert Day: Flood Watch extended due to expected heavy rainfall

A Flood Watch was extended for parts of the New Orleans Metro area until Saturday evening.

NEW ORLEANS — A Flood Watch was extended for parts of the New Orleans Metro area until Saturday evening due to expected heavy rainfall.

Earlier in the day, a Flash Flood Warning was issued for parts of the New Orleans Metro until 12:15 p.m. Friday but has been extended until Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

At one point, Entergy's outage map had more than 1,800 customers were without power in Jefferson Parish.  

Due to heavy rain, the city allowed neutral ground parking until 10 p.m.

This wet pattern continues into the weekend with more rounds of tropical showers. The disturbance in the Gulf will be around Saturday and Sunday, so expect a solid 70-80% chance for rain both Saturday and Sunday.

According to the SWBNO dashboard90 of 99 Major Pumps are available. Turbines 4, 5, and 6 are available for use, and 5 of 5 EMDs are available for use.
