NEW ORLEANS — Flooding will continue to be an issue for St. Tammany and now Tangipahoa. Estimates of 2.5 to 5 inches of rain have fallen and an additional 1-3' are possible Tuesday. Low-lying areas, underpasses, creeks, open ditches, etc. are all susceptible to flooding.

The city of New Orleans on the southshore is allowing neutral ground parking during the duration of the severe weather and heavy rain, though Monday they did not have it nearly as bad as their northshore counterparts.

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper said there were reports of some trees down in the Mandeville area and a possible lightning strike of a home.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin said that severe weather could be lingering over the area until nearly 1 a.m. with a chance of more on Tuesday.

Much of the area went into the day with a level 2 chance of severe weather and the same goes for Tuesday. The storms could continue overnight and into the morning hours.
