NEW ORLEANS — A Street Flood Advisory has been issued for parts of Jefferson Parish until 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
Motorists in the area are advised not to drive through flooded roads.
Entergy New Orleans currently reports more than 600 customers without power in Jefferson Parish.
Earlier, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for areas in Jefferson, including Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge and Avondale until 3 p.m.
A resident in Waggaman posted on WWL Louisiana's Facebook page about seeing quarter-sized hail shortly before 3.
Residents are urged to seek shelter indoors until the storm has passed.
A Heat Advisory remains active for the New Orleans area until 7 p.m.
