Tornado Warnings and Watches
Reports of a confirmed tornado touchdown in the Diamondhead/Kiln area in Mississippi.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Tornado Warning for:
- Central St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana.
- Northwestern Hancock County in southern Mississippi.
Power Outage
As of 8 p.m., approximately 38,000 Entergy Louisiana customers in Louisiana are without power.
Northshore
Cleco reports over 23,000 customers without power statewide – majority on the Northshore – due to severe weather and an EF-1 tornado that hit Slidell.
Jefferson Parish
Entergy reports less than 1,000 customers in Jefferson Parish are without power. The Entergy outage map shows much of the affected area is near the New Orleans International Airport and north of I-10.
Orleans Parish
Entergy New Orleans reports just 150 without power in parts of Treme, Central City, and Mid-City as of 5 p.m.
Tangipahoa Parish
Over 2,300 Entergy customers in the Tangipahoa area are without power.
Flooding
FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS
Flash Flood Warning issued April 10 at 10:55 AM CDT until April 10 at 2 PM by NWS New Orleans LA.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Flash Flood Emergency for the following areas until 2 p.m.
- North Central Jefferson Parish in southeastern Louisiana.
- Southwestern Orleans Parish in southeastern Louisiana.
- West Central St. Bernard Parish in southeastern Louisiana.
RTA
The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority is announcing the temporary suspension of bus and streetcar service due to citywide flooding. Both the Algiers Ferry – which was discontinued temporarily – and Chalmette Ferry are currently in service.
Causeway
The Causeway is closed due to severe weather.
Major Underpasses
Carrolton Underpass is now is now open.
Gentilly/610 Underpass is now closed due to flooding.
Franklin Avenue Underpass is now open.

Neutral ground parking is allowed in Orleans Parish Wednesday, April 10 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
- Please don't block intersections, streetcar tracks, sidewalks, or bike paths.
- Avoid flood waters
- NEVER drive through flood waters. It's dangerous for you, and your vehicle, and can push water into nearby homes and businesses.
- If water rises around your car, abandon the car immediately.
Sewerage and Water Board
92 of 99 major drainage pumps are available for use, and crews have been prepping throughout the day.
Turbine 5 is online, and Turbine 6 is available if needed. Turbine 4 remains offline. As for the backup generators—or EMDs—three out of five are available for use.

- DPS 3 on Florida Ave near Hwy 90: D Pump out of service due to replacement of bearing housing unit
- 4 additional drainage pumps available at this station + 4 constant duty pumps
- DPS 6 on Orpheum Ave: I pump out of service undergoing routine maintenance
- 12 additional drainage pumps available at this station
- DPS 10 at Hayne Blvd. and Shubrick Ave. at Citrus Canal: No. 1 Pump out of service
- 3 additional drainage pumps available at this station
- DPS 13 near Tall Timbers Algiers: No. 4 Pump on standby for emergency use only
- 5 additional drainage pumps available at this station + one constant duty pump
- DPS 15 near Intracoastal Waterway and Industrial Pkwy: No. 1 Pump out of service
- 2 additional drainage pumps available at this station
- DPS 17 near Florida Ave. and Peoples Ave: Pumps A & D out of service due to issues with the electric motor

- John Slidell Park Gym is open as a shelter (105 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA)
- Recreation Center is open as a shelter (61100 N 12th St, Lacombe, LA)
- Creekside Junior High (65434 LA-41, Pearl River, LA)
Jefferson Parish
Jefferson Parish has opened the Terrytown Playground (641 Heritage Ave., Terrytown) as a safe shelter for anyone needing a place to be during the storm. It will open at 8 a.m. today, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, and will remain open for residents in mobile homes in need of sturdy shelter until the National Weather Service gives the all-clear.
