KILLONA, La. — A tornado that touched down in St. Charles Parish claimed the life of a Killona woman described by her family as a pillar in the community and life of the party.
Allison Alexander, 56, was found outside near the remains of what once was her home that was destroyed by an EF-2 tornado. Family members say they don't know where exactly she was when the tornado passed by, but they know she was alone and she may have hit her head and been thrown from her trailer by the winds.
"This is the last picture that we took," said Yvette Raymond, Allison's sister. She said the it didn't quite capture the full love and light of her oldest sister.
"She was the life of the party," Raymond said.
On Thursday, families came to pick up the pieces and knock down the debris that covered what once was home.
"I would rather lose everything If I could just have my sister back," she said. "Her number just was up and it was time for her to go home. She's gone but always in my heart. I'm gonna always love my sister."
The timing of the tornado was also tragic, so close to the holidays. The family says that the support they are getting from the community is helping them get through this hard time.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the Alexander family. You can view that campaign by clicking here.
