Northshore river flooding expected to continue for days

Additional flooding is expected through the week for rivers throughout the region.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — The WWL-TV team is continuing to monitor river levels along the Northshore. Here is a quick look at some of the main flood concerns for the region:

Tangipahoa River near Kentwood, LA

  • As of 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 13.06 feet and is slowly falling. The flood stage is 13 feet. Levels should drop below the flood stage Tuesday night.

Tangipahoa River at Amite, LA

  • As of 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 21.15 feet and is holding steady. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is expected to start falling gradually beginning Tuesday night.

Tangipahoa River at Robert, LA

  • As of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 22.37 feet and major flooding was occurring. The flood stage is 15 feet. Major flooding is expected to possibly last through Thursday morning. 

Tchefuncte River near Folsom, LA

  • As of 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 19.32 feet and major flooding was already occurring. The flood stage is 16 feet. The river level is should drop out of the major flood stage Tuesday night. The river level should drop back to the minor flooding stage Wednesday morning.

Tchefuncte River near Covington, LA

  • As of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 27.79 feet and moderate flooding was occurring. The flood stage is 20 feet. While major flooding was forecast for late Monday afternoon and expected to peak around 29.5 feet early Wednesday morning, it appears the river level is holding steady. The river level should drop back into the minor flood stage on Thursday afternoon.

Bogue Falaya River near Camp Covington, LA

  • As of 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 42.05 feet and minor flooding was occurring. The flood stage is 45 feet. The river level is lowering quickly and has dropped out of the minor flooding stage.

Bogue Falaya River at Boston Street, LA

  • As of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 9,94 feet and moderate flooding was occurring but is falling quickly. The flood stage is 6 feet. The river level should drop out of the moderate flood stage Wednesday morning.

Bogue Chitto River near Bush, LA

  • As of 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 12.89 feet and minor flooding was about to occur. The river level is expected to continue rising through the rest of the week but remain in the minor flooding stage. The river level is expected to peak at 14.02 feet on Wednesday evening.

Pearl River near Pearl River, LA

  • As of 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the river level was 15 feet and minor flooding was occurring. The flood stage is 14 feet. The river level is expected to continue rising and possibly reach the moderate flooding stage Friday morning. The river is expected to peak at 17 feet on Friday evening.
