With yet another hurricane bearing down on Louisiana, several parishes and local governments are offering sandbags to residents. Here is the list we have so far. If you know of a place or parish where sandbags are being given out, please email 'webteam@wwltv.com' and we will add it to our list.
Hurricane Zeta is the seventh named storm to have south Louisiana in its cone of uncertainty and possibly the fifth to make a landfall in the state.
Hurricane and tropical storm watches are likely to be issued Monday night or Tuesday morning. '
Here is the parish-by-parish breakdown for sandbags.
Orleans
In partnership with the New Orleans City Council, the City of New Orleans will provide sandbags on Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or until supplies last) at the following locations:
- Arthur Monday Center, 1111 Newton St.
- Dryades YMCA, 2220 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
- Saint Maria Goretti Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd.
- NOFD Engine 8, Desire and Law Streets
Plaquemines
Starting today, October 27, 2020, at 12 PM Noon parish-wide sandbag locations will be open. See below for sandbag locations. Residents should bring their own shovels.10 bags max. Bags will be provided. :
