NEW ORLEANS — Usually, the days leading up to a holiday, airports are chaotic, but this year, the day before Thanksgiving MSY wasn’t such a scary sight. Lines weren’t as long as we’ve seen recently.
Some Holiday travelers, like Brian and Courtney Davis arrived extra early just in case – four hours early to be exact. But when the Davises arrived at the airport, they realized the TSA lines weren’t that long.
“Seems like so far it’s not as busy as we expected. We heard a lot of people talking about how crazy it was going to be and it doesn’t seem that bad,” the Davises said.
WWL Louisiana timed them through security and it took them 24 and a half minutes from when they entered the line to when they got through security scanners.
Others, like John West didn’t get to the airport extra early.
“It seems like it’s a little bit crowded but not too bad. I got parked and over here to the terminal. Pretty quick,” West said.
Of course, though, no one wants to get stuck at the airport or miss their flight, so it’s better to be prepared. TSA says they’re expecting record breaking crowds at the airport this holiday season. So, keep that in mind. TSA says to arrive early to not only get through security but also parking and checking in your bag.
Plus, they say to limit the things on you or in your hand so you can put as little as possible in the bins.
“Put that in your carry-on bag rather than in a bin because people get stressed out during the holidays crowds are large so it’s better not to put anything in your bins unless you have to,” Sari Koshetz, TSA spokesperson said.
