Avery Island: Home of Tabasco

Avery Island

TABASCO® Sauce Factory, Jungle Gardens and its Bird City.

Nestled in the marshes of Southwest Louisiana, Avery Island is where Edmund McIlhenny invented a product and founded a company, in 1868. Today his century-old recipe is reproduced using virtually the same technique employed over 140 years ago.

Just a two-hour drive from New Orleans, Avery Island makes the perfect day trip for the whole family. Visit
the TABASCO® Country Store and Visitor Center (Now serving food), tour the TABASCO® Pepper Sauce Factory or stroll through Jungle Gardens, a 200-acre garden housing Bird City, a safe nesting place on Avery Island which helped save the Snowy Egret from extinction. There is something for everyone.
