All public restrooms are back open at MSY after loss of water pressure

Portable toilets were available for passengers pre-security on level 1 outside of door 3.

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — UPDATE: Just after 6 p.m. MSY officials said all restrooms are open.

Officials at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport say all restrooms and water fountains in the airport terminal are closed due to the loss of water pressure after a water main break outside of the East Bank treatment plant.

Only prepackaged food and beverages are available in Airport concessions.

Flight operations have not been affected at this time, but passengers should check with their airlines for the latest flight information, according to MSY.

Officials issued a boil advisory shortly before 5 p.m.

Before the boil advisory, Director of Water Sidney Bazley provided a timeframe to repair the break and open the road during a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon.

"We are anticipating to two or three days right now and it's due to the weather," Bazley said. "The weather won't allow us to get the restoration going as fast as needed.

The outage and boil advisory is affecting the entirety of the East Bank, including Kenner and Harahan.
